Jamesport area blood drive to benefit local patients

Community Blood Center, the provider of blood services to local hospitals, will be conducting a blood drive from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Jamesport at the Mennonite School gym, 704 S. Myrtle, to help the local hospital patients in our area that depend on life saving blood donations.

USDA implements farm storage facility loan program

Daviess County Executive Director of USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) Kirby Payne recently announced that changes to the Farm Storage Facility Loan (FSFL) program have been implemented in accordance with the 2008 Farm Bill. FSA administers the FSFL program on behalf of the USDA Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC).

Larry Hester 1939-2009

Graveside services for Larry Hester were held Aug. 22 at Clear Creek Cemetery, near Jamesport. Arrangements were by McWilliams Funeral Home, Gallatin. Memorials may be made to the Larry Hester Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.

Gladys Sweat turns 90

The seven-day Tour of Missouri is set to begin on Labor Day weekend in St. Louis, Monday, Sept. 7. Rebecca Bell, a graduate of Gallatin High School, would like to be able to share her passion for pro cycling with the readership of the North Missourian. Golf cart inspections start Aug. 29

The City of Gallatin passed an ordinance permitting golf carts to be operated on city streets under certain conditions and with a city permit during their regular meeting held Aug. 24.

City decides to condemn five buildings

Chief Richards submitted five buildings to the board to be condemned and discussed each of the notices. The board carried a motion to proceed with condemning the five buildings. The buildings are located at 204 S. Main; 207 N. Maple; 212 N. Maple; 308 Market; and Hunt Apartments at 213 N. Main.
