Fourteen carnival style games were available for pre-kindergarten through sixth graders to enjoy. Chief Mark Richards, of the Gallatin Police Department assisted in setting up the safety parameter for the youth, as well as lending the carnival games from the DARE program.

The games which were run by the Chi-Rho members, gave tickets as their prizes to then be redeemed by the students at the Chi-Rho School Store. The Chi-Rho School Store had a wide variety of items from back packs to notebooks, pencils, crayons, scissors and glue, in which the tickets could be cashed in for those much needed supplies for the upcoming year. Sherri Carder from the Daviess County Health Department, gave out many helpful information pamphlets for the upcoming school year along with the ‘Arrive Alive’ tag necklaces. The Chi-Rho group with the help of Pastor Russ Hamilton, parents and community volunteers, also served free popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, chips and sodas. The event was such a success that the members plan to make this an annual tradition for fun and assistance to the students of Daviess County. Local donations from area civic groups and businesses assisted in helping stock many children’s school desks for the coming year. The Chi-Rho group is a non-denominational Christian youth group for 4th through 8th grades. The group meets once a month for Christian fellowship fun and service projects for the community. The group is getting ready to kick-off their third year, with over 75 plus members. Chi-Rho always welcomes any new members that are in the fourth through the eighth grade. If you have a child wanting to attend please contact the First Christian Church at 663-3415.
