Funeral services for Lavene Hefley were held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation will be from 6–8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jameson Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.

The youth group will be collecting non-perishable canned good food items at both entrances to the football game. On Oct. 21, 12 of the Gallatin FFA members, and students from Jamesport, Hamilton, Pattonsburg, and Maysville, headed to Indianapolis, Ind., for the 2009 National FFA Convention, where more than 55,000 FFA members from all over the country were expected to be attending.

Four students from Gallatin High School made the cut for All-District Choir. The students are pictured, left to right, Tyler Avriette, Terrill Wood, Michael Youd and Alex Richards. The choir performed at Platte County High School on Oct. 24, under the direction of Marilyn Rhea. There were 120 students performing from the district.

On Oct. 23, Dale Ray Curtis, 19, Gallatin, was charged with felony burglary and assault, as well as misdemeanor counts of harassment (2), trespassing first degree, property damage second degree and assault third degree.. His brother, Kyle Curtis, 17, Gallatin, was charged with misdemeanor harassment, trespassing and minor in possession.
