Semi-pro football announced at McFall

A new form of football is quietly taking shape in a corner of Gentry County. The Midwest Lightning minor league/semi-pro football team has made McFall its base of operations as it prepares for competition in the Great Plains Football League.

Gallatin dominates Jr. High Invitational

Gallatin junior high track teams were 4-for-4 in victories earned at meets through the April 21 HDC Junior High Invitational. Bulldog junior high squads added both the girls and boys titles to previously won Daviess County Relay crowns.

Gallatin alum attends Anatomy/OT&M workshop

Lee C. Rogers of Gallatin, a pre-medical student at Truman State University, participated in a day-long workshop at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM) focusing on anatomy dissection and osteopathic manipulation.

R-5 Stream Team reports to Audubon Society

R-3 Novice Production team places first

North Daviess R-3 High School competed at the North District Business Contest April 6. The R-3 team of Novice Production received first place and the Novice Speed team received third place.

Open House for new Pattonsburg school

The Pattonsburg R-2 School District is holding an open house for the new school buildings on Saturday, May 1. Refreshments will be provided. The buildings will be open from 9:30 until noon. All are invited to come and tour the new buildings.

Carol Anthony deployed to Mediterranean

Navy Seaman Carol S. Anthony, daughter of Hazel M. Hasting of Gallatin, has departed on a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf aboard the amphibious assault ship and Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) flagship USS Kearsarge, home ported in Norfolk, Va.

Lois Boon d. 1999

Lois Jean (Harris) Boon, 67, Trenton, formerly of St. Joseph, died April 23, 1999, at a Trenton health-care center. Mrs. Boon was born near Jamesport. She lived in St. Joseph and California before returning to Jamesport in 1978.
