The Gallatin FHA chapter held their 52nd annual recognition night on April 20, 1999, at the Davies County Library. The opening ceremony was led by president Holly Garnett followed by a welcome from senior Kristen Ellis. Shannon Batson gave the devotion and dedicated it to the FHA senior members. The year in review was given by Amanda Boyd and Christina Hood.

Many members and activities were highlighted throughout their report. Twenty-six students were recognized for participation in STAR events on the regional level. The students attended STAR events at the regional competition in Pattonsburg.

Receiving a gold medal were Brandi Carder, Holly Garnett, Jamie Burnett, Shannon Batson, Allison Spidle, Rochelle Davitt, Rebecca Stith, Emily Miller, Jason Parker, Erin Sweatman, Brook Carder, Mariah Gibson, Kamille Burrell, Jamie Lunsford, Kayli Burrell, Roxi Davitt, Lauren Henderson, Amanda Bohannon, Laura McCann, Amanda Boyd and Terri Rainey. Receiving a silver medal at Regional level were Stacy Craig, Stephanie Swanstone, Michelle Anthuis and Martha Baldwin.

Each year the membership votes on outstanding members from each class and one overall outstanding member. This year’s recipients were eight grader Brook Carder, freshman Kim Clevenger, sophomore Jamie Burnett, junior Allison Spidle, and senior Jason Parker. The overall outstanding member was Holly Garnett.

President Holly Garnett recognized the chapter parents for their support and help throughout the year. The following chapter parents were recognized and presented with a rose: Nancy Garnett, Tom Garnett, Jerry Batson, Linda Houghton, Sherri Carder and Carl Carder.

Power of One helps FHA members get more satisfaction from their lives and relationships, as well as the special pride that comes from their accomplishments. The following received Power of One Awards: A Better You Heather Ott, Rebecca Harper, Erika Steger, Kari Dickinson, Chasidy Renne, Katy Sauls, Brook Carder, Mariah Gibson, Roxanne Hostetler, Roxi Davitt, Amanda Bohannon, Misty Maddox; Take the Lead Jason Parker, Courtney Houghton, Jamie Burnett, Michelle Anthuis, Mariah Gibson; Working on Working Holly Garnett, Shannon Batson, Allison Spidle, Mariah Gibson; Family Ties Shannon Batson and Mariah Gibson; Speak our for FHA/Hero Mariah Gibson. Mariah Gibson completed all five Power of Ones.

Kara Sullenger and Faith Estes recognized 14 senior members, announced their future plans, and gifts were handed out.

Officer Installation was conducted with a candlelight ceremony. The following were installed as 1999-2000 officers: Courtney Houghton, president; Jamie Burnett, 1st vice-president; Rebecca Stith, 2nd vice-president; Jamie Lunsford, secretary; Kamille Burrell, treasurer; Roxi Davitt, historian; Terri Rainey, reporter; Rochelle Davitt, recreation leader; Kayli Burrell, parliamentarian; Allison Spidle, state vice-president; Shannon Batson, Region Two 2nd vice- president and parliamentarian. The meeting was closed by the new president. Refreshments were served after the meeting.
