Funeral services for Janet Seery were held Saturday, Feb. 25, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was at Winston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

VFW holds fund-raiser dance

Gallatin VFW Post 2172 will hold a dance open to the public from 7-11 p.m. on Friday, March 9, at the AV Spillman Building in Jamesport. There will be a live band — Dammit Jim & The Rednecks.

The AV Spillman Building is smoke free. It is located at 308 S. Broadway in Jamesport.

Turnkey, scanner, generator working well at jail

During their meeting held Friday, Feb. 24, the board of the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail heard that Turnkey is installed and all is going well; the Iris Scanner is installed and going well; and the generator is installed and working.

City hires Hildreth in sewer department

City Administrator Zac Johnson informed the Gallatin Board of Aldermen during their regular meeting held Feb. 27, that Bob Hildreth was hired in the sewer department and started with the city on Feb. 21.

Attention World War II Veterans!

The Chautauqua committee plans to honor World War II veterans at this year’s fall festival. If you are a WWII veteran or if you know a WWII veteran, please call Trudi Burton at 660-663-2516 to help compile the list of honorees. The 2012 Chautauqua is set for Sept. 14-15-16.

Lake Viking annual meeting on tap March 4

The annual meeting of Viking Valley Association is set for 2 p.m. March 4 at the association clubhouse. Only active members in good standing are admitted to the meeting. Those attending must have their 2011 membership cards.

Makeup day set at North Daviess R-3

Superintendent Becky Morris announced during the regular meeting of the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education held Feb. 15, that the first weather makeup day will be March 19.
