City Administrator Zac Johnson informed the Gallatin Board of Aldermen during their regular meeting held Feb. 27, that Bob Hildreth was hired in the sewer department and started with the city on Feb. 21.

Jason Mercer discussed projects completed in each department in the last four weeks, including: Water — fixed main breaks on South Cedar, South Prospect, West Grand and Olive Street; repaired to frozen meters; cleaned out building for transformer storage; D.N.R. classes taken for C.E.U. credit hours for licenses. Sewer — jetted sewers on Olive and Richardson; cleaned lift stations with de-greaser; jet truck repaired (fuel leak and batteries); maintenance at sewer plant up-to-date; D.N.R. classes taken for C.E.U. credit hours for licenses. Street — cleaned city dump of scrap metal (three loads); demolition of old clear well behind power plant is complete; rocked around street barn, water plant and dog pound; repaired corner at Hwy. MM and Market Street; burned brush pile on West Grand; repaired driveway on South Prospect after water main break. Electric — 30 street lights repaired; repaired cross arm at Richardson and Searcy; fixed cross arm at Olive; assisted in water main breaks; went to D.N.R. training for C.E.U. for licenses; assisted in operation of wastewater plant operations; residential services converted to new meter loop (seven).
Public comments were made regarding the nuisance ordinance, pot holes on South Daviess, recycle tubs and condemning of homes.
Mark Butcher with the Dockery Park Board inquired about the park buying field covering this year out of its savings since the money was not budgeted for this year. The council approved the park to make the purchase.
Police Chief Mark Richards submitted a report on activity from Feb. 13-27 with the following reports taken and tickets given: three dogs at large; one pit bull in city; two runaways; two vehicle lockouts; two uninvited solicitors; one illegal parking; one beyond parental control; one cow out; two accidents; one property damage; two funeral escorts; one DWI; one assault; one warrant arrest; one civil disturbance. There are five dogs in the pound.
Bills in the amount of $37,784.13 were approved for payment.
Discussion was held on the underground electrical project for the Sullenger Addition, nuisance ordinance and outdoor furnaces.
An ordinance approving the proposal from Green Hills Regional Planning Commission for administrative services received a first and second reading.
Johnson discussed upcoming legislation for 2012 that could affect city municipalities.
The board entered into closed session for legal actions and litigation.
