2010 Track: GHS track teams unlimber at Trenton Early Bird Relays

Six area athletes have received post season recognition from a pair of area radio stations.
Gallatin’s Colton Selby and Ashley Owens have been named to the KAAN Radio All-Star Basketball teams. Bulldog wrestlers Levi Michener, Bo Malo and Peter Steele have been selected KAAN All-Star wrestlers.
Winston senior Keshia Youtsey represented her team on the KAAN All-Stars.
Selby and Owens were also named to KMZU Radio all-star teams.
Gallatin varsity golfers opened their season last Thursday with head-to-head competition against the Maysville Wolverines, who shot 202 to defeat the Bulldogs on Maysville course.

The jury trial that had been scheduled for Kevin W. Caldwell was set aside. The case was continued to April 16 for a plea agreement. He is charged with distribution of controlled substance near school, class A felony, and involuntary manslaughter, class C felony.
University of Missouri Extension hosted a Water Festival for 68 Daviess County fourth grade students and their teachers on March 15 at the First Baptist Church in Gallatin. Those schools participating included Gallatin, Tri-County, and North Daviess.
The Gallatin Youth Wrestling Club had two wrestlers, Harrison Pettit and Trenton Ishmael, qualify to compete in the Missouri USA Wrestling State Championships at the University of Missouri at Columbia on March 27-28.
Four GHS juniors will be attending Missouri Boys State and Missouri Girls State at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg during the month of June.
Gallatin R-5 Instrumental Department has been busy over the past few months and will continue to be busy with upcoming events.
Gallatin R-V enrichment students Patrick McNickle, Riley Hagan, Jordan France, John Gibson, and Emma Qualman, their parents and their teacher Kim Brammer attended GEM Day at William Jewell College in Liberty on March 6.
North Daviess R-3 held a science fair Tuesday, March 30. First place winner, Anna Morris, received a $50 savings bond from BTC Bank.
U.S. Congressman Sam Graves is seeking submissions for "An Artistic Discovery," the annual Congressional High School Art Competition.
Gallatin enrichment students were recently nominated for honor programs by their enrichment teacher, Mrs. Kim Brammer.

The April General Municipal Election for Daviess County will be held on Tuesday, April 6.
Yesterday was the last day of filing for the Aug. 3 Primary election. Three local candidates waited until the deadline to throw their hats into the ring. Filing closed yesterday (Tuesday) at 4:30 p.m.
Arrests have been made in a multi-jurisdictional investigation of a burglary ring centered in the Pattonsburg area. The arrests were made following a check of a residence at 706 Oak Street in Pattonsburg.
