Gallatin hosts visit by national FFA officer

Regina Holliday, Southern Region FFA vice president, spent last week visiting FFA members throughout northwest Missouri. Ms. Holliday is from Dublin, Ga., and is a junior at the University of Georgia. She is majoring in animal science with plans to earn a degree in veterinary medicine. During her stay in Missouri, Regina was hosted by Area II FFA officer Breanne Brammer.

Winston students help to beautify Hwy. 6

Circuit Court

Four civil cases involving Daniel F. Froman and/or Pauline Froman were transferred to Judge Roger M. Prokes on Sept. 22. Judge Prokes is from the Fourth Judicial Circuit (Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway and Worth Counties). The cases against Daniel and Pauline Froman for grain stealing, grain dealer fraud and filing false financial statements were transferred to Judge Prokes earlier.

I would like to comment on the article by Congressman Sam Graves dated Sept. 9 entitled "Keeping focus on job growth." He tell us what we already know about the jobless rate. What he doesn’t say is what economists have said from day one of this recession, that the last phase of recovery is job creation.

Rehabilitation services for the blind training

Winston school board hears report on yearly audit

Superintendent Brian Robinson reported to the Winston R-6 Board of Education during their regular meeting held Thursday, Sept. 17, that field work on the school’s yearly audit has been completed with a report to be distributed to the school board for the October meeting.

Pattonsburg school adds security cameras

The Pattonsburg Board of Education approved the following items during their regular meeting held Sept. 21: the purchase of two additional security cameras; M.U.S.I.C. renewal; the renewal of certificate of deposit; and the search and purchase of a minivan.

Operation Christmas Child is coming soon

Operation Christmas Child, a project of international relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s Purse, headed by Franklin Graham, encourages volunteers to fill sample shoe box gifts with toys, necessity items, school supplies, candy, and often hand-written notes of encouragement.
