Altamont Untied Methodist

James Wilson gave the mission moment on the services we provide for Della Lamb in Kansas City for 525 elementary school students. Scripture was from Mark 4:35-41, "A Terrible Storm!" Pastor Marilyn’s message was "In Over Our heads."

Praise time special was "Abide With Me." Have you seen our new huge cross and the Holy Sprit flame in the backyard of the church? We hope you remember its meaning. Susie Walton painted our huge church bell a bright silver. Prayer needs are for Zaidee Hawman, Pastor Ralph Davis, Tokey Sue Gardner and Connie Hughes.

Flora Goehring 1925-2012

Celebration of Life for Flora Goehring was held Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Breit-Hawkins and Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah. Interment was in Savannah Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.

Marvin Nighthart 1923-2012

Funeral service for Marvin Nighthart were held Friday, June 22, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany. Burial with military rites was at Miriam Cemetery of Bethany. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association andor Hands of Hope Hospice, in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, Mo., 64424.

Kevin Kordes memorial

Memorial services for Gallatin native Kevin Kordes will be held at 10 a.m. on June 30, 2012, at Hillcrest Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to a Celebration of Life at Lions Club Hall following the memorial service.

Donna Noland 1944-2012

A celebration of life for Donna Noland will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Three Angels Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5302 Mitchell Ave, St. Joseph. A fellowship dinner will begin at 5 p.m., with a tribute immediately following, in the sanctuary. All friends and family are welcome.

Kidder man arrested for multiple battery thefts

A Kidder man, Lucas Harpster, has been identified as the person who sold four stolen industrial batteries to Underdog Salvage in Cameron on June 16. The batteries had been stolen from a construction site on Missouri Route J in Daviess County. During a consent search of Harpster’s Impala, burglary tools, marijuana and paraphernalia were found, as well as a laptop, CB radio and battery cable ends.

Harpster, 21, was arrested on June 19, and has been charged with two counts of theft, possession of burglary tools, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $40,000 bond.

According to probable cause reports, Harpster confessed on June 21 to stealing batteries from three locations in Daviess County: six batteries on June 5 from State Highway J & Highway D, two batteries near State Highway BB about June 6, and four batteries from Clarkson Construction located at a bridge construction site on High J on June 14. Bob Anthony of Clarkson Construction had reported the missing batteries on June 19.

Be careful with fireworks to prevent wildfires

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds people to be extremely careful with fireworks during this time of very dry conditions and lack of rain. MDC also urges campers and others in the outdoors to follow the precautions below to protect lives, property and Missouri’s precious forests, fish and wildlife.

WMH Foundation Board Adds Six New Members

The Wright Memorial Hospital Foundation Board met Tuesday evening for its annual meeting of the 2012 year. Board President Cathy McKay presided at the meeting and welcomed board members and visitors.

Construction continues on Pattonsburg Well #7

Layne Company received a motion from the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen to continue with the construction of the city’s new Well #7 at the proposed cost of $107,739 during the regular meeting of the board held June 13.
