The Wright Memorial Hospital Foundation Board met Tuesday evening for its annual meeting of the 2012 year. Board President Cathy McKay presided at the meeting and welcomed board members and visitors.
Officers re-elected were President Cathy McKay, Vice-President Tom Eads, Secretary Barb Cox, and Treasurer Elizabeth Gibson. Other board members that were re-elected were Chad Boyd, Robert Gallup, and Rick Klinginsmith. Dr. J.A. & Chris Keuhn chose not to seek re-election and were thanked for their service on the board.
Six new board members and one ex-officio member were added to the board last evening. Dr. Kevin Harris of Trenton, Linda Kennebeck of Trenton, Matt Krohn of Princeton, Steve Maxey of Trenton, Vel Anne McClanahan of Kirksville and Cara McClellan of Chula were elected for terms beginning September, 2012. WMH Foundation Development Officer Matt Osterthun gave a recap of the "109 plus One" event held April 27. He indicated that 117 people attended the event that dedicated the donor recognition wall. Dr. Albert D. Cross spoke at the event and gave a historical and inspirational view of the hospital and Foundation. Osterthun thanked the board members for their hard work and support to make the event successful.
Osterthun gave a progress update on the walking trail campaign. The campaign kicked off March 30 with WMH employees challenged to attain a 100% goal of participation hospital wide. Osterthun informed the board that 80% of WMH employees have contributed to the campaign thus far, which has totaled over $26,000 pledged to the project. To date, $8,815 has been raised in 2012 for the walking trail and memorial garden campaign. Osterthun said "our employees have really stepped up to the plate with this effort, and now it’s the community’s turn to join this campaign". The proposed walking trail and memorial garden are projects designed for the benefit of WMH employees, visitors, patients and the community. The projected cost of both projects is $100,000.
CNO Barbara Ball attended the meeting and gave a brief update on the hospital’s transition to electronic medical records and the state survey results.
The next meeting of the Wright Memorial Hospital Foundation Board will be held on September with new member orientation scheduled in August.
