Governor Jay Nixon has issued a proclamation announcing April as Missouri Safe Digging Month. The proclamation reminds Missouri homeowners to call or click Missouri One Call System three working days before they dig. Polo woman sentenced for $414,000 bank theft

Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Polo, Mo., woman was sentenced in federal court today for embezzling more than $414,000 from Bank Northwest, where she was employed in Polo and Hamilton.

Frances Palmer 1939-2011

Memorial services for Frances Palmer will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Bram-Turner Funeral Home, Maysville.

Arlene Tuggle 1918-2011

Funeral services for Arlene Tuggle were held Saturday, March 26, at Ridgeway Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. The family suggests donations to Ridgeway Cemetery.

Marvin Carpenter 1949-2011

Funeral services for Marvin Carpenter will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, at Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. Visitation is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lick Fork Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cameron Comfort Care Hospice.
