The 2009 4th Cycle Annual Performance Report (APR) was reviewed during the regular meeting of the Winston R-6 Board of Education held on Nov. 19, in the high school library. Winston R-6 met 11 of 14 areas. This retains the district’s full accreditation status with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
The academic students were recognized for their accomplishments during the season at the regular meeting of the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education held Nov. 17. The team ended their year as first in the conference with 10 wins and zero losses. The team placed third in the HDC tournament. Frank Marshall and Gant Hartley were chosen for all-conference academic team. Other member recognized were Jared Hogan, Sarah Morris, Kelsey Baker, Anna Morris and Suncirae Merritt. Mr. Hartley was recognized as the coach for the academic team.
As part of a STAR Event, FCCLA members Kailey Elbert, Bailey Morrison, and Kaitlyn Hefley are hosting a Beanies for Baghdad drive. Beanies for Baghdad is an organization that collects toys to send to the soldiers in Iraq, Kosovo, and Afghanistan.
The Green Hills Head Start Program, sponsored by North Central Missouri College of Trenton, serves 277 children and families in the nine-county Green Hills area. Vicky Hiley is the Gallatin Head Start Teacher. You may contact her at 660-663-8976.
Matt Atkinson and Colton Selby, were recently named to the 2009 Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Northwest All-District Football Teams. Atkinson received recognition as linebacker, Selby as a defensive back.

Gallatin Police Officers participated in an Occupant Protection Enforcement program that included increased safety belt enforcement while conducting regular traffic stops.
In a jury trial Nov. 23-24, before Judge James Valbracht, Michael L. Gasperino of Kansas City was found guilty on all counts, in connection with an armed residential robbery on April 30, 2009, at Pattonsburg.
Gasperino was tried for two counts of first degree robbery; two counts of first degree burglary; four counts of kidnaping; one count of assault in the second degree; and two counts of armed criminal action. A sentence assessment report was ordered, and sentencing will be Dec. 23 at 1 p.m.

Tonia and Aaron Anderson are proud to announce the birth of a son, Tymber Chevelle Anderson, born at 9:53 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Cameron Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending at McWillaims Funeral Home in Gallatin for Vera Warden.
Vera Warden, 100, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at her home.

Gallatin R-5 Superintendent James Ruse announced his retirement at the regular meeting of the Gallatin R-5 Board of Education held Nov. 19. He will not seek another contract. His time will be concluded June 30, minus vacation.
The Dockery Park Board invites you to see the beautiful lights during Christmas in the Park to be held on Saturday, Nov. 28. The lighting of the park will take place at 6 p.m.
The Gallatin Police Department has been approved for $6,233.27 in grant funding through The Local Law Enforcement Block Grant/JAG (LLEBG/JAG) Program. The funds will be used to replace emergency equipment in the city’s police vehicles such as light bars, sirens and flashlights.
