The Dockery Park Board invites you to see the beautiful lights during Christmas in the Park to be held on Saturday, Nov. 28. The lighting of the park will take place at 6 p.m.

Be sure and bring your camera as Santa will be available for pictures from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Hayrides will be given through the park after the lighting. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Children will receive a goodie bag to take home.

Only handicap parking will be allowed at the park after 5 p.m. Additional parking will be available at the city power plant. The Hillbilly Shop will provide golf carts rides between the power plant and the park.

The Dockery Park Board held several meetings over this summer and fall. The following is an update from the highlights of those meetings.

At the Sept. 17 meeting City Administrator Zac Johnson was present to discuss the auditor’s recommendations regarding the handling of the Park’s money. Bills totaling $1748.50 were approved for payment. The progress of re-roofing of the buildings was discussed. Nineteen new trees were purchased and planted throughout the park. Parts needed to repair the tractor will be purchased. The pond has been sprayed. Work had been done on the scoreboard and getting the monument set.

During a special meeting on Sept. 27, the finances of the Park were discussed. Upcoming sports programs were discussed.

At the Oct. 15 meeting, Mr. Johnson discussed an application for an EECBG grant to replace ballpark lights. The grant requires some matching funds. The city auditor stated that bonding a park board member will work. The city attorney will be asked if there is any other things the board needs to consider. Cost for the bond will be minimal. The city water department will check on a leak north of the park community building. Bills in the amount of $2076.45 were approved for payment. Concession stand repairs will have to wait until spring. Equipment to replace damaged equipment will need to be ordered after this season of flag football is complete. The Gallatin Theater League did the basketball program. Dan McCann was allowed to remove the remaining dead trees. Alan Bradford, on behalf of the Cub Scouts, requested use of the Park Community Building for the Cub Scouts’ meetings on the first and third Wednesdays every month at no cost to the Cub Scouts. Mr. Bradford assured the board that the scouts will clean up and take care of the building. The board discussed magnetic and break-away bases for both baseball fields, covers for the top of the ball field fences, and tractor/equipment needs. The board talked about involving school groups for park projects and beautification.

Bills totaling $1683.24 were approved for payment during the Nov. 19 meeting. The grand stand is the only building that has not had roof repairs completed at this time. Soccer will be held in the spring at the cost of $25 per player. Community service workers were discussed.
