The Gallatin Police Department has been approved for $6,233.27 in grant funding through The Local Law Enforcement Block Grant/JAG (LLEBG/JAG) Program. The funds will be used to replace emergency equipment in the city’s police vehicles such as light bars, sirens and flashlights.

The Local Law Enforcement Block Grant/JAG (LLEBG/JAG) Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). Missouri is awarded funding through the U.S. Department of Justice’s Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.
Local Law Enforcement Block Grant/JAG contracts administered by the Missouri Department of Public Safety, Office of the Director, are awarded to law enforcement agencies through their respective city or county unit of government. Short-term contracts are awarded in amounts up to $10,000 for purchase of equipment directly related to basic law enforcement functions and officer safety.
The Missouri Department of Public Safety evaluated 218 grant applications from various state and local units of government. The dollar value of the grant applications received was approximately $1.7 million dollars while the total amount of available funding for 2010 was only $800,000.
