Jamesport FFA Receives a Top Chapter Award

Two from Gallatin win state proficiency

Johnny Mertin, representing the Jamesport FFA Chapter, accepted the 30th-place Gold Emblem Chapter Award.

Jamesport FFA placed 30th out of 331 chapters in the state, earning a Top Chapter Award at the 85th Missouri FFA Convention. Only 10% of state chapters receive a top chapter designation each year.

The Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail Board will hold their meeting at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 26, in the training trailer on the jail grounds at Pattonsburg.

Accident at Casey’s

Gerald Tolen, 57, Gallatin, was involved in an accident at Casey’s at about 9:30 Friday night. Mr. Tolen’s foot slipped off the brake and smashed the gas pedal, causing his Ford Explorer to jump the curve and hit the side of the brick building.

No one was injured in the accident.

Body Found in Lake at Wallace State Park

A deceased adult white female found near the lake at Wallace State Park on April 19, 2013, has been identified as Janette D. Riffle-Hartley, 53, of Cameron.

An autopsy was conducted on April 20 at the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s office. Final results of the autopsy will be released in three weeks.
