Jail board meets May 31

The Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail Board will hold its regular meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, in Pattonsburg.

The agenda includes the financial report, SRI Contractors (roof) and Cameron Accounting. New business will close a dated inmate account. Information on the investigation with reports from Sgt. Kenneth Schulte will be heard in closed session.

Dorothy Minor 1916-2012

Funeral services for Dorothy Minor were held Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Bram-Turner Funeral Home, Maysville, with burial in Shambaugh-Cope Cemetery, Weatherby. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maysville Methodist Church, Comfort Care Hospice, Alzheimer’s Association.

Everett Parks 1923-2012

Funeral services for Everett Parks were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Burial was at Lathrop Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Everett Parks family.

Janis Robinson 1938-2012

Funeral services for Janis Robinson were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the First Baptist Church, Bethany, under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, with burial in Coffey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Oaks Baptist Camp in care of the funeral home.

Summer cooling help available

The Green Hills Community Action Agency’s Cooling Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will soon begin providing cooling help to many households in northern Missouri this summer season.

Kids’ Cooking Class offered in June

The Daviess County Health Department is offering a free cooking class for fourth, fifth and sixth graders in June. There are two class times to choose from: 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m. Classes will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday for two weeks (June 18, 20, 22 and 25, 27, 29).

Pattonsburg R-2 cuts costs by $105,000

Superintendent Johnnie Silkett reported during the regular meeting of the Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education held May 21 that about $105,000 in cost-cutting measures have been enacted in next year’s budget. The savings to the school came by not replacing two staff members, one that retired and one that left the district, along with changing the school’s insurance.
