Malo graduates from Marine Corps

Private Bo Cameron Malo graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot on Dec. 2, 2011, in San Diego, Calif. Bo spent 13 weeks in a series of various training at both Camp Pendleton and MCRD.

GHS FBLA, Patrol emphasizes dangers of texting while driving

On Dec. 9 the Gallatin FBLA Chapter held an assembly for grades seven through 12 and the community in the Gallatin High School gymnasium. The assembly explained the dangers of texting while driving. Sergeant Lyons from the Missouri Highway State Patrol gave a PowerPoint and video presentation. This assembly was part of a community service project sponsored by the Gallatin Future Business Leaders of America Chapter. Students pictured with Sgt. North Daviess R-3 decides about credits, full-year courses

Ray Prater presented the North Daviess Board of Education a request that credits earned as a student in eighth grade be accepted as high school credits during their regular meeting held Dec. 19. The board carried a motion to deny the request. In addition, the school board will not allow students to change full year courses at semester.

Gallatin FBLA Chapter teaches American Enterprise to third graders

Since competitive events are just around the corner, the Gallatin FBLA chapter has been working vigorously on their American Enterprise Project. The American Enterprise Project is a competitive event during which the Gallatin FBLA chapter teaches an enterprise concept to the school and/or the community. The chapter determined to target elementary-aged children.

Michael Youd selected for All-State Choir

Michael Youd, a senior at Gallatin High School, has been selected to participate in the Missouri All-State Choir, set to perform at 12 p.m. at Tan-Tar-A on Jan. 28, 2012. Michael was one of four basses that was selected, from a group of 24 bass, which auditioned from our District.

Court of Honor for Boy Scout Troop 67

Boy Scout Troop 67 held its Court of Honor on Dec. 19. Morgan Corwin, Michael McLey, Dalton Swalley, Keaton Collins and Hunter McCampbell moved up to the rank of Star. Patrick McNickel moved up to 1st Class. He is pictured with his parents and David Roll, advancement chairman.

Jail completes refunding of lease financing

At the regular meeting of the Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail District Board of Directors held on Dec. 16, legal documents implementing a $1,860,000 current refunding of the remaining $2,215,000 Series 2006 Lease Certificates of participation were signed.

Amber Nelson and Cody Walton are proud to announce the birth of their son, Conner Lane Walton. He was born at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 27, 2011, at Liberty Birthing Center in Liberty. He weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 19 1/4 inches long.
