Carl Carder promoted to Masterchief

<a href='http://photos.gallatinnorthmissourian.com/modules.php?set_albumName=albun04&id=carl_carder_1&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php' title='Carl Carder of Gallatin was promoted to Masterchief by Commanding Officer Captain Garold Ulmer during a ceremony held March 28, at Port Hueneme, Calif., home of the Pacific Seabees. Masterchief is the highest rank attainable in the enlisted ranks. Carl was also one of three who received the high honor of being pinned with the Navy Achievement Medal. It’s a tradition in Carl’s battalion that upon retirement a Masterchief hand down their anchors to someone they want to see promoted. Retired Masterchief J.D. Johnson gave Carl his anchors and told him that he’d make it someday. WideBand Corporation, Gallatin, announced recently that it has chosen Interop Las Vegas as the place to launch its new Intelligent Networking system. Interop is the industry’s largest and most respected enterprise IT event, taking place April 30-May 5 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Sara Lin, daughter of Rick and Lesli Lin of Gallatin, finished 8th of 12 competitors in the 8-9 year olds division of the 33rd Annual Elks "Hoop Shoot" National Free Throw Contest, held last Saturday in Springfield, Mass.

Everly excels in conference golf

Aaron Everly, a 2005 Gallatin R-5 graduate and current freshman at Westminster College, tied for 20th place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Golf Championships held last weekend at The Links in Jacksonville, Illinois
