At the time of its closing in 2021, Gallatin Publishing Company (GPC) employed more than 20 full and part-time workers, operating a printing plant in Gallatin and a sales office in Chillicothe. The business relocated into remodeled facilities at Gallatin soon after acquiring a 6-unit News King web press from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2009. Printing newsprint periodicals (weekly, daily and monthly) was its primary business along with other commercial printing. GPC owned and distributed six periodicals besides printing more than a dozen periodicals published for neighboring communities. Since 2006 the company had increased its efforts in website hosting and development, internet marketing, and related activities and was recognized as a leader in presenting real estate and auctions both online and in print for North Missouri and South Iowa.
