Charles Burnett, 37, was charged April 27 with two counts of 1st degree sodomy, two counts of attempted enticement of a child, and sexual misconduct or attempt involving child under 15. Bond was denied. He was picked up from Missouri Department of Corrections on May 3.
According to the probable cause statement, between May 10, 2015 and June 1, 2016, Burnett had oral sex with a confidential victim, who was less than 10 years old at the time, on multiple occasions in Pattonsburg. Over time, the sexual misconduct escalated.
Burnett has been incarcerated since December 2019 and is currently serving a 22-year sentence. He is set to be released on parole as early as May 2021.
The probable cause states that Burnett knows where the confidential victim is living and that there are safety concerns for the victim, as well as any other child that Burnett might have contact.
Burnett’s criminal history includes stealing, burglary, receiving stolen property, tampering with motor vehicle, theft, drug charges, forgery, interfering with arrest, non-support of child, and unlawful use of a weapon.
