The Polo woman who is accused of second degree involuntary manslaughter in the death of her mother is set for jury trial in Caldwell County on Oct. 25. Rachel Nichols, 42, was her mother’s primary caretaker. Her mother, Glenda Lana, 66, was found deceased on Nov. 18, 2019, weighing only 26 pounds. She reportedly died of malnutrition, cachexia and emaciation.
Nichols pled not guilty on April 13.
