Gallatin Fire Protection District responded to a building fire on Nickel Avenue at a hog farm northeast of Gallatin around 3:40 p.m.
The 250’x45’ metal barn was mostly consumed by the flames with a sizable pillar of smoke emanating from it. Firefighters tried to contain the fire to keep it from spreading to other neighboring buildings and requested backup.
It took approximately 32,000 gallons and 28 firefighters to completely extinguish the fire. The cause remains unknown.
Responders include Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Daviess County EMS, Pattonsburg Fire District, Jamesport Fire District, and Jameson Fire District.
