Circuit Court
Judge Ryan Horsman heard the following Law Day cases on Dec. 9, 2020:
In two related cases filed against the Missouri Department of Social Services, a bench trial was set for March 5, 2021, with Stella and Michael Goucher of Winston petitioning for judicial review of a decision made by the Child Abuse/Neglect Review Board (CANRB).
A settlement was approved in a personal injury case, Lindsay Walton by next friend Trevor Walton of Riverton, UT, vs. Larry Raymo of Jamesport. The plaintiff was injured in an accident that occurred in July 2019.
In Terry Michael Roberts vs. State of Missouri, a motion to set aside guilty plea was continued. Roberts was sentenced to 10 years on each of four charges, two of assault first degree, one count of burglary first degree, and one count of arson first degree, on Jan. 11, 2017. Two of the sentences are running consecutively, for a 20-year total. The matter was continued to Feb. 11, 2021 for final hearing.
In Iesha Wallace vs. Joseph George, a petition for damages, the case was dismissed.
In Maria Aguinaga vs. Bradley Sheetz and Heidi Sheetz, a motion for summary judgment was heard and taken under advisement.
Dissolutions of marriage were granted to Tyrena Bell of Gallatin from Richard B. Bell of Seymour; to Justin Korthanke of Gallatin from Shannon Korthanke of Hamilton; and to Mindi Peterson of McFall from Robert Peterson of Pattonsburg, with her maiden name Mindi Jo Carter restored.
Civil cases filed: Midwestern Health Management vs. George and Christina Miller of Winston, suit on account.
Associate Division
Jason M. Chadwick of Jameson was charged Dec. 8 with property damage first degree and leaving scene of accident, damage exceeding $1,000, both felonies, and making false report, misdemeanor. According to court documents, Chadwick crashed his vehicle into a large concrete block flower planter, which was valued at $1,500, on Koala Road, Jameson. He then left the scene of the accident. When contacted by the police, he attempted to implicate someone else in the crime.
Assessor’s Office
Next year, for the first time, you will be able to e-file your assessment sheets. The new website will allow appraisers, realtors, surveyors, bankers, and the general public the convenience of looking up basic real estate data, deed information, sale information and personal property. Next week, office staff and a representative from the State Tax Commission will be out in the field on Monday and Tuesday picking up new construction and doing reviews.
The assessor’s office will close at noon on Dec. 23.
