This year the Gallatin FFA chapter had two students participate in the FFA fall speech contests.
Senior Jenna Rains chose the topic of Young Farmers, Young Farm Wives, “Advocating for Ag After High School.” Rains received first in the area contest, as well as first in the district contest. She will be participating in the state contest on Feb. 5.
Freshman Abigail Burns chose the topic of Soil and Water under the Conservation District and chose to do her speech over pollinators, specifically bees. She received 2nd in the area contest, and then also performed her speech at the district level.
Along with doing an excellent job of preparing and presenting their speech the students also faced the challenge of presenting their speeches in a very unusual way. For the area contest, they recorded their speeches before sending them off to be judged. For the district contest, the girls called into a Zoom meeting and gave their speech through the Zoom meeting to be judged. ~ Libby Endicott, reporter
