The funding is an $833,800 loan through the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program. It will be used to complete improvements to the city’s aging water distribution system.

Improvements include updating 13 miles of water distribution line and installing several flush hydrants, new valves, and road bores.

This additional award brings USDA’s total investment to $3,929,000 for this project; Missouri Department of Economic Development also partnered in the project, contributing a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant.

The city will also use a $14,800 Community Facilities Economic Impact Initiative Grant to purchase a fully equipped patrol vehicle for its law enforcement personnel. This purchase will expand the city’s fleet, as Hamilton currently only has one functioning patrol vehicle.  The additional vehicle will help law enforcement personnel improve efficiency, cover more area, and ensure the safety of city citizens and visitors alike.

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety, and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
