Brookfield put together a single and rbi-double to tie the score at 4-4 before Ella Daugherty stepped to the plate and doubled to center field, scoring the game-winning run.
Gallatin, the #7 seed, put pressure on the #2 Brookfield squad from the very first plate appearance. Ashley Feiden drew a base on balls and Caragan Baker followed with a single. Betty Rogers doubled to left field, scoring Feiden in the process. Baker scored on a sacrifice by AnnaBelle Ball to make it 2-0 after the top of the first inning.
Ball’s 2-out, 2-run homer to left scored Baker, who led off the third frame with a single. Gallatin blanked Brookfield until the bottom of the fourth when a single, sacrifice and 2 errors led to 2 runs.
Brookfield continued to chip away at the GHS lead in the fifth with a single, sacrifice and another error. A scoreless sixth inning kept Gallatin in the lead, 4-3, until the final game-ending BHS rally.
Baker finished her high school career with a 2-for-3 night at the plate, including a walk and run scored. Rogers twice hit safely. Carli Beck and Madi Michael each finished with a hit, along with Ball, whose home run and sacrifice grounder scored 3 of her team’s 4 runs.
Gallatin finished the season with an overall record of 6-14, 2-4 in the Grand River Conference East Division.
