Substitute teachers received a pay hike, the softball field got new fencing, and the tax levy went down a bit at the Winston school.
The Winston School Board approved increasing substitute teacher pay to $100 per day during their meeting Aug. 17. The district is currently accepting applications for new substitute teachers.

The operating tax levy was set at $4.2051 per $100 assessed value at the Annual Tax Rate Hearing. This is a decrease of $0.0177 from last year.
The Annual Secretary of the Board Report has been submitted to DESE per the required August 15 deadline. Final Fund Balance for 2019-2020 School Year was $1,715,177.83. Of that amount the Unrestricted Ending Fund Balance (Incidental + Teachers Funds) is at 49.69%. Capital Projects Fund Balance is at $658,547.20.
Preliminary bus routes were approved, as were policy updates related to reflect current staff work hours and leave time.
The next regular school board meeting will be Sept. 14.
