A Des Moines, IA, woman received moderate injuries in an accident in which she was ejected from a vehicle on I-35. The accident happened at about 10:50 p.m. on Sept. 12 in Daviess County.
According to the highway patrol’s report, Vernon Walker, 48, Des Moines, was northbound on I-35. About two miles north of Winston, his 1996 GMC Suburban traveled off the west side of the roadway, overcorrected, and overturned, ejecting the passenger. The vehicle came to rest in the median on its wheels, facing east.
The passenger, Courtney Blaine, 34, Des Moines, was transported by Daviess County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. She was not wearing her seat belt.
The vehicle was totaled.
