After holding the public tax rate hearing, the City of Coffey accepted the proposed tax rate levy of $1 per $100 assessed valuation.
After discussion of upcoming utility maintenance projects, the board motioned to transfer $8,000 from Late Fees Fund into the Sewer Fund and $4,000 from Late Fees Fund into the Water Fund.
Steve Henderson reported the water readings have been good and no leaks to report. The Department of Natural Resources was to do an over-the-phone inspection on Aug. 16 and was to be in town on Aug. 17 to inspect the master meter pit.
Steve Henderson has begun blading the roads. Mayor Ray commented that it will take time to get the streets back in shape. Henderson asked the council if a load of rock could be purchased to fill in some potholes. The board motioned to buy one load of road rock.
The tractor has been repaired and is back in service.
The written quote for a 5 horse-power pump for the sewer was higher than the verbal estimate that was given by Hickman Environmental Services, so a previous motion to purchase a back-up pump was rescinded and will be visited at a future date. After discussion of the last inspection done at the lagoon and lift stations and the quote for repairs, the board agreed to contact Hickman Environmental Services to do the needed repairs at lift station #3 (S. Center St.) at a cost of $4,000.
There is still an open council position. Residents will be asked about serving on the council.
Frank Davis stated he had trimmed a tree on the corner of Hwy. B and Jefferson Street and is willing to trim other trees if he has time.
The financial report was accepted; non regular bills were approved; and regular bills were reviewed.
Next regular meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Sept. 19.
