Woman assaults grandson at Jamesport residence
Berthia Maurer, 67, Kansas City, was arrested Aug. 30 and taken to Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail (DDCRJ) for a felony charge of abuse or neglect of a child. The probable cause statement prepared by Daviess County Deputy Loreanna Parker says that Maurer was upset with her grandson because he had stolen money from her home.
Before the assault Maurer was demanding that law enforcement unlawfully search every home where she thought her grandson might be. After law enforcement left the area, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Aug 30, Maurer took her 13-year-old grandson into his house where she allegedly slammed his head into a wall, threw him to the ground and punched him with her closed fist. The victim suffered multiple injuries in the assault, as his father stood by and watched. Bond was denied.

• Michael Trickler, 43, St. Joseph, was arrested and taken to DDCRJ for second degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. Bond set at $50,000 cash only.
• Lee Xiong, 37, Inola, OK, was arrested and taken to DDCRJ for driving while revoked/suspended and leaving scene of accident. Bond was set at $2,500 cash only.

• Hunter Routt, 21, Trenton, was arrested and taken to DDCRJ for unlawful possession, transport, manufacture, repair or sale of an illegal weapon, no valid license, two counts of drug paraphernalia, and speeding. According to court documents, Routt was stopped for speeding at the intersection of State Highway 6 and State Highway 13 around 10:30 p.m. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, the Gallatin police officer found drug paraphernalia, marijuana residue, and residue in a glass pipe which tested positive for methamphetamine. Routt also had brass knuckles in his vehicle. A records check revealed that Routt had a revoked driver’s license. Bond was denied.

• Devin Sparks, 31, Merriam, KS, was arrested and taken to DDCRJ for DWI and operating vehicle on highway without a valid license. Bond set at $2,000 cash only.

• Berthia Maurer, 67, Kansas City, was arrested and taken to DDCRJ for a felony charge of abuse or neglect of a child. Bond was denied.
• Timothy Nguyen, 37, Trenton, was arrested and taken to DDCRJ for a DWI on a 12-hour hold.
