First day of school will be Aug. 25 for the Winston R-6 School District and teacher in-service is set for Aug. 18-21.
At the June 15 meeting of the Winston Board of Education, Jakub Hisel presented a proposed Eagle Scout project of concreting the softball batting cage; he is continuing with the proposed project.
The board accepted a hay ground bid from Bill Mastin.
Non-resident tuition rate for the 2020-2021 school year was set at the current amount of $5,000 per year.
The board certified the election results from county clerks showing Hydi Sheetz, Karla Youtsey, and Jason Estes were elected to the board. Newly elected members were given the Oath of office. The board reorganized as follows: president, Allen Rhoades; vice-president, Jason Estes; secretary, Hydi Sheetz; treasurer, Karla Youtsey.
Other dates of importance include the fall sports dead period, August 1-9, and the first day to practice fall sports Aug. 10.
Next school board meeting is at 7 p.m. on July 20.
