The Missouri State High School Activities Association has added more classes this year for high school sports, it has been announced.
According to MSHSAA Communications Director Jason West, the following sports will see greater opportunity for more championship opportunities for member schools.
Baseball will go from 5 classes to 6.
Boys and girls basketball will go from 5 to 6 classes.
Girls Golf will be expanded from 2 classes to 4.
Boys Golf will go from 4 classes to 5.
Other sports adding a class are spring softball, boys tennis, girls tennis and volleyball.
State basketball championships will still be contested on two separate weekends, with classes 1-2-3 and classes 4-5-6 lumped together.
