The Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail Board heard updates on jail improvements during their meeting held May 29. The electrical work is being completed at this time by Brown Lumber, and noted lighting has made an improvement to security. All locks have been received, and installation will begin on June 15, and will take approximately one month to complete. The board was invited to tour the facility upon completion of the updates.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, training was delayed, but is now starting up. Firearms qualifications and taser training have started and in-service will begin in June.
Members discussed the increase in courts being conducted via Zoom and Poly-Com, and the possible continuation of this process.
Possible moneys are available for COVID-19 testing and it will be discussed with the contracted medical staff.
The financial report was approved with sales tax revenue for April $96,561.22; sales tax balance $53,447.05; commissary grossed $10,991.16 in May; operating account balance $206,771.54; payroll balance $1,027.38; accounts receivable $375,487.63; accounts payable $243.60.
The board entered into closed session to consider legal actions, causes of action or litigation involving a public governmental body and any confidential or privileged communications between a public governmental body or its representatives and its attorneys.
The next meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, June 26.
