Congressman Sam Graves announces the inaugural 6th Congressional District Congressional App Challenge (CAC), an app competition for students in middle and high school.
The CAC accepts computer programs (or apps) written in any programming language, for any platform (desktop/PC, web, mobile, etc.).
“Our 21st century economy depends on STEM and computer science skills,” Rep. Graves says. “Jobs in the technology field are high-paying and in high demand. It’s important that we encourage our students to take a look at this important field of work.
“Many students in North Missouri are already actively engaged in computer coding and this gives them a chance to show off their skills. I’m excited to host a Congressional App Challenge and I look forward to seeing what our students create.”
The Challenge’s submission portal is now open. Students are encouraged to register online by Sept. 10 at CongressionalAppChallenge.us. Students entering the competition must submit their app by Oct. 19.
The competition is open to all students who meet the eligibility requirements, regardless of coding experience. Students of all skill levels are strongly encouraged to participate and learn how to create their own apps.
Winners will be selected by panels of judges drawn from the local community. Winning apps will be eligible to be featured on display in the U.S. Capitol building, on House.gov and on the Congressional App Challenge website.
