The North Daviess R-III School District will be able to access $77,000 from the CARES Act, ESSER Fund to use to offset some of the ongoing costs from the COVID-19 situation.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was enacted on March 27, 2020, a $2 trillion package of assistance measures, including $30.75 billion for an Education Stabilization Fund. The Education Stabilization Fund allocates 43.9% to the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER Fund) or $13.23 billion, 46.3% is allocated to the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund or $13.95 billion and 9.8% to the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund or $2.95 billion.
Graduation at North Daviess will be held at 4 p.m. on June 6. New diplomas with the revised date will be signed when they arrive.
Principal Kelly Hightree reported that she, along with Superintendent Dan Street and the school counselors met twice to discuss grades and how to end the school year. The administration and teachers met on May 7 to discuss these end of year procedures and discuss upcoming issues.
Last day for meal deliveries was May 4. The official last day of school was May 13. Grade cards were to go out the week of May 18.
Superintendent Dan Street reflected on the passing of former superintendent and longtime North Daviess supporter Julie M. Kirby.
Facility and technology updates were given.
Next meeting was set for 6 p.m. on June 15 in the cafeteria or conference room in Jameson.
The board entered executive session to discuss employee matters.
