Regional jail sees renovations, virus precautions taken

Director Edmon Howard gave an update on renovations at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail and advised the board of server issues during their April 24 meeting. IT Services Pro was able to provide a loaner server until the new server arrives.
Precautions have been taken at the jail to ensure safety of staff, detainees, and the public during the Covid-19 crisis. Masks were donated by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and have been placed in the transport vans along with gloves to avoid possible transmission of the virus.
Training at the jail has been suspended due to the Covid-19 shut-in order. As soon as the order is lifted, training will begin again.
James McKinley, Cameron Accounting, Inc., was present to answer questions. A representative from Cameron Accounting meets with the administrative assistant quarterly to review accounts and offer assistance if needed.
The financial report was accepted as follows: sales tax revenue for February $92,953.13; sales tax revenue for March $91,557.84; sales tax interest received 7/19-12/19 $655.57; sales tax balance $3,883.69; CD accounts 247 and 977 closed; operating account balance $261,191.58; payroll balance $1,080.67; accounts received $380,096.66 and accounts paid was $1,530.18. The commissary grossed $17,866.88 in February and March.
The first quarter financial report was provided to the board.
DeKalb County board bill payments are to be certified through the circuit clerk’s office. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail will no longer receive payments for DeKalb County board bills.
The next meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, May 29.
