The Gallatin newspaper asked local dining places how they are going to handle opening back up now that Governor Mike Parson has announced the first phase of the “Show Me Strong Recovery Plan” outlining how Missouri will gradually begin to reopen economic and social activity on Monday, May 4. We asked if the waitresses will be wearing masks and if the tables will be separated. Here are the responses we received:
Janny’s Java, owned by Janelle Miller Leeper: Right now I’m just not sure what will happen considering this has taken a huge hit on me financially. I know I only run a couple days a week but given interest and the cost of everything going up, I’m not 100% sure what’s to happen for me at the moment. But if and when I do get up and running again, I do have hopes that my customers can stand six feet apart. And as for masks I will take that upon what CDC is suggesting at the time.
Daviess County Livestock Market Sale Barn Café: We will not be wearing masks; tables will be six feet apart with no more than 10 people per table as we were advised by the health department. We will be open for dine in business Monday, May 4, at 11 a.m.
Made From Scratch: We are a food truck and we wear gloves always, but masks will be worn and possibly debit card only. We sell here at the farm but all our other festivals have been canceled for now. We also sell out at Lake Viking on weekends during the summer and don’t know yet if they’re going to let us do that yet. Fingers crossed!
Southside Tavern & Grill: We are going to be business as usual. Waitresses are not going to wear masks; they don’t have to. Tables are far enough apart. Signs are posted saying ‘Please exercise social distancing for your own safety.’ I was told that’s all I could do to keep people separated; if they choose to be close, that’s on them. Will still have carry out for those that still choose to do so.
Mi Mexico: Just aren’t sure yet when they will be open for dine in.
Subway: We will be open for dine-in on Monday. We will do social distancing and will be at 25% capacity. We will separate tables. No masks. We will have sanitizer available for the guests and for the workers.
Corner Café: Hoping to open May 15.
