The second matchup in the GHS Hoops Madness Guessing Game is in the books and the team from 1994-95 is moving on to the semifinal round. The 94-95 club included Eric Hamilton, Cody Bird, Nathan Taylor, Brett Steward, Ira Sloan, Jason Wilson, Scott Wiley, Tyson Elbert, Eric Feiden, Ryan Lockridge, Michael Painter, Rusty Heldenbrand, Bob Wiley, Zac Johnson, Brian Robertson, Billy Irby, Dane Worrell and Brant Batson.
On the “losing” end of the week 2 matchup, the 72-73 team comprised Keith Morrissey, Kenny Youtsey, Greg Houghton, Rick Lewis, Rick Tague, Bob Bird, Danny Robertson, Ronnie Gatton, Kenneth Heman, Jim Fuller, John Wright and Danny McBroom. Both the 94-95 and 72-73 teams were state tournament entries in their respective seasons.
This week’s matchup presents the #2 team from 1991-92 against the #7 team from 1985-86.
The 91-92 team, which finished 27-2 and as GRC and district champs before losing to Bishop Hogan in the sectional round, consisted of Will Salmon, Daniel Madison, Scott Shipers, Clint Pitzenberger, Chris Feiden, Bobby Wigglesworth, Jamee Hunt, Aaron Steigerwalt, David Woodruff, Eric Critten, Eric Hamilton, Cody Bird, Sonny Painter, Roger Harris, Mike Beck, Jason Burns, Matt Strasser, Nathan Taylor and Brett Steward.
The 23-6 team from 1985-86 finished as district champ and owned the distinction of breaking South Harrison’s 36-game conference winning streak. The team beat Mercer in the state sectional round but lost to #3 ranked KC Lutheran in the quarterfinal. Included on the team, along with GHS all-time scoring leader Syd Weybrew, were Dennis Hacker, Clint Barnes, Loren Adkins, Glen Huffman, Chris Evans, Steve Agenstein, Jim Sears, Alan Wood, Steve Prindle, Todd Steward, Mike Kelley, Creed Allen, Scott Croy, C. J. Deppen, Jason Helton, Shad Mort and Sean Parker.
