The Active Aging Resource Center is extremely grateful to announce they have been awarded a $5,000 Meals on Wheels America COVID-19 Response Fund grant. The funds will be used to help with food costs during the coronavirus pandemic.
In less than a month since establishing the Meals on Wheels COVID-19 Response Fund to meet the increased demand for services, Meals on Wheels America announced on March 14 it has already distributed more than $4.1 million in emergency funding to local senior nutrition providers actively responding to the evolving COVID-19 crisis across the country.
“With all Americans being urged to remain at home, we are experiencing a new wave of homebound seniors who may not know from where their next meal will come,” said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America. “Local Meals on Wheels programs are uniquely positioned to reach these at-risk individuals and are working tirelessly to adapt to the rapidly evolving situation, deliver meals safely and respond to an unprecedented increase in need.”
“Since suspending our in-dining program, we have seen an increase in clients requesting Meals on Wheels,” explained Deanna Lewis, Administrator. “The Meals on Wheels America COVID-19 Response Fund grant will be extremely helpful to keep at-risk older adults safe in their homes and not worrying about where they get their next meal.”
The Active Aging Resource Center has established a Sponsor a Senior program to help provide Meals on Wheels to Daviess County older adults. Your tax-deductible donation can be mailed to P O Box 272, Gallatin, MO 64640.

Meals on Wheels are still being be delivered once a week until further notice.
Adult in-dining program is still suspended until further notice.
