Union Electric Company d/b/a Ameren Missouri has filed a request with the Missouri Public Service Commission to adjust the fuel and purchased power adjustment charge (FAC) on the bills of its electric customers.
Ameren Missouri made two filings. As a result of these two filings, the FAC for a residential customer using 1,022 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month would change from a current refund of approximately $0.80 a month to a refund of approximately $2.12 a month. The proposed change would take effect on May 27, 2020.
Foregoes some fee collection
The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by Ameren Missouri for a variance from the company’s tariffs which will allow Ameren Missouri to forego the collection of fees related to late payments and reconnections to help customers deal with the financial hardships felt by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In its filing, Ameren Missouri stated it was seeking the variance to ease some of the financial burdens on its customers that reductions in hours worked, job and shift losses, sick leave, and other impacts of COVID-19 emergency may cause.
Ameren Missouri requested the variance be effective until it becomes evident that the COVID-19 outbreak is waning. Ameren Missouri stated it will provide at least a 15-day notice to affected customers before these fees are reinstated.
Ameren Missouri provides electric service to approximately 1.28 million customers in Missouri. Visit the Missouri Public Service Commission website at www.psc.mo.gov.
