According to Lance Rains, Gallatin City Administrator, a letter was received on March 23 from the city’s solid waste hauler, Rapid Removal, which outlines new protocols for trash pickup and postpones city wide cleanups.
Due to Covid-19 virus pandemic and its unknown life cycle, Rapid Removal Disposal, Inc., (RRD) has decided to follow the response set forth by national waste haulers in the U.S. and suspend weekly bulky item pickup and spring cleanups. Suspending these two services will minimize the virus exposure to sanitation workers.
In addition to the above two changes, all waste companies have implemented the following:
• Carts only, nothing on the outside. If carted.
• Bagged trash only if not carted.
• Increase the bag limit to 12. (13 gallon)
• Workers are to not come into close contact/proximity with residents while on the route.
• All move-in or move-out trash pickup is suspended.
• Maintaining weekly trash service takes priority over all special requests.
Rapid Removal Disposal and all waste haulers are working hard to maintain weekly trash service.
