Lloyd D. Riley, age 79, of Gallatin, MO, passed away Sunday night, March 22, 2020, at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin.
Lloyd was born on February 19, 1941 the son of Lloyd Edwin and Wilma Nadine (Barr) Riley in Kearney, MO.
He was a 1959 graduate of Kearney High School.
On August 5, 1960 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Prentice in Kearney, MO. The couple made their first home on a farm east of Kearney and in 1973, they moved their family to the farm south of Gallatin, MO. Lloyd was a self-made, classic, hard-working farmer all of his life. He served his community as a member of the Masonic Lodge and member of the board of directors for Greenhills Communications for over 30 years and served as their president for 23 of those years. Lloyd loved his family and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren every chance he could. He was an avid fan of western movies and books with John Wayne and Louis L’Amour books were at the top of his list. Farming, horses, working with cattle, collecting toy tractors and his seat at the “coffee shop” were important to parts of his life. He will be dearly missed.
Mr. Riley was preceded in death by the love of his life, Evelyn; parents; brother, Gary Riley; brother, David Riley.
Survivors: son, Greg (Jean) Riley of Overland Park, KS; son, Jeff (Anita) Riley of Gallatin; son, Pat (Heather) Riley of Winterset, IA; son, Steven Riley of Gallatin; brother, Richard (Cheryl) Riley of Excelsior Springs; 10 grandchildren, including Mitch (Amanda) Riley and Mackenzie (Zack) Morrison of Gallatin; 5 great-grandchildren.
Private family services due to COVID-19 (Corona Virus). No visitation is scheduled. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Friends were invited to call the funeral home on March 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Due to restrictions put in place by the State of Missouri, no more than 10 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time. Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home, Gallatin. You may offer online condolences and sign the register book at www.stithfamilyfunerals.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Gallatin R-V FFA Chapter in care of the funeral home.
