In an administrative order issued March 16 by R. Brent Elliott, presiding judge of the 43rd Judicial Circuit, restrictions were placed on persons entering county courthouses of the 43rd Circuit, which includes Daviess, Caldwell, Clinton, DeKalb and Livingston Counties.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, persons entering courthouses must meet requirements of the administrative order. In summary, persons who have traveled or been in contact with someone who has traveled, or anyone with unexplained symptoms of sickness will not be admitted.
Anyone with a court date or appointment at the courthouse is asked to contact their attorney or the appropriate office for instructions and further information.
The Western District of Missouri also issued a general order on March 16 which continued many criminal and civil proceedings through March 29. The time period of the continuances implemented by this general order will be excluded under the speedy trial act.
