The Coffey City Council established the effective date for the water/wastewater rate increase to begin with the July 1 billing. The rate increase was approved at the Oct. 2019 meeting.

In other business at the Feb. 22 meeting, an ordinance carried after first and second readings. The ordinance is regarding schedule of fees, tax rates, and to update the property tax rate for 2019, and related matters.

Three water leaks were reported. Wynne’s Backhoe will be contacted to start repairs.

Brush removal has been started in the park. The Salem Township maintainer operator requested some tree trimming be done before road grading begins.

Tractor repair was discussed.

Hickman Environmental Services repaired pump #2 at sewer lift station #1.

After discussion, the council decided to raise the council stipend from $20 to $25 per month. A bill draft will be presented at the next meeting.

Petty cash reimbursement was approved with one abstaining (relation).

The council discussed possible dog control measures as several residents expressed concerns regarding unrestrained dogs. No action was taken.

Building permits for non-permanent structures and temporary fences were discussed. The council stated no permits were needed for these items.

Next regular meeting will be at 10 a.m. on March 21.
