Mike Edwards, regional account executive from Ameren Electric, presented the street light agreement for upcoming term and explained details to the Altamont Board of Trustees during their meeting held Feb. 9. There are no anticipated revenue changes from the past agreement to the current one. A board member asked who is responsible for trimming trees away from power lines as the city had two local incidents during a recent storm. Mr. Edwards said he would check the city’s maintenance cycle for tree trimming and let the board know.

In conjunction with the street light agreement renewal, ordinance 2020-01 was carried by the board. The ordinance replaces ordinance #01-2010 to modify the expiration date of the Street Light Agreement with Ameren. The current agreement expires March 25.

The community building cleanup was tabled until spring.

There was nothing new to report as far as ordinance enforcement.

Board members wanted to try once more to post for bids from insured snow removal contractors. Residents would be notified via the Village facebook page to avoid parking on the streets before snow removal begins. For the record, it was noted that a local contractor was given emergency approval by phone to plow the streets in mid-January.

During public comment, Hank Curtis was asked if he was willing to accept the current open board seat and he accepted. Mr. Curtis was appointed to fill the unexpired term of the current open board seat by a vote of 3-1. One board member abstained due to not being acquainted with Mr. Curtis.

Next board meeting was scheduled for March 8.
