Additional candidates have filed for office since last week’s report. The primary election is set for Aug. 4, and the general election will be on Nov. 3.
Joshua Ty Lisle of Jamesport has filed as a Republican candidate for Daviess County assessor, which sets up a race in the primary between Lisle and Aaron Piburn of Winston, who filed last week. The successful Republican candidate will face incumbent Democrat Sally Black of Gallatin in the general election.
Democrat Greg Houghton of Gallatin filed for Second District Commissioner. His opponent in the general election will be incumbent Wayne Uthe of Winston on the Republican ticket.
Incumbent public administrator, Kayla Michael of Gallatin, Republican, also filed for re-election.
Additional filings for township committee members set up races for the Union Township positions. In Union Township Connie Plemons and Daniel Plemons of Gallatin filed on the Constitution party, as well as Democrat Meredith McCann of Gallatin and Republican Joseph M. Griffin of Gallatin. Democrat Dan McCann filed for Union Township last week.
Other township committee filings were: Jamesport Township, Republican Doug Michael of Gallatin; Grand River Township, Republican Kayla Michael of Gallatin; Jackson Township, Republican Larry Adams Jr. of Jamesport.
The following filings were reported in last week’s edition:
For Daviess County sheriff, three have filed on the Republican ticket. They are Kyle Cornett of Pattonsburg, Larry Adams of Jamesport, and Tyler Miller of Pattonsburg.
Incumbent county commissioner David Cox of Jamesport (First District) filed for re-election on the Republican ticket.
Current coroner Jason Smith filed for that office on the Republican side.
Lacy Corwin of Gallatin filed as a Democrat for collector/treasurer.
Filing for election as township committee members are the following: Salem Township, Republican David Holcomb of Coffey; Salem Township, Republican Ronetta Burton of Pattonsburg; Jefferson Township, Republican Wayne Uthe of Winston; Marion Township, Republican Kyle Cornett of Pattonsburg.
Candidate filing is open through March 31 at the county clerk’s office in the courthouse.
