With dual victories in opening action in Class 1, District 14, Pattonsburg’s girls and boys each advanced to the semifinal round where they will face former HDC Conference rivals for the right to play for Saturday’s district titles.
The Lady Panthers eliminated Winston, 67-61, to set up tonight’s (Wednesday) semifinal pairing against #2 seeded Tri-County, which bested Gilman City, 72-50. Starting time for that game is 8:15. Pattonsburg’s boys blasted Ridgeway, 80-45, to set up a meeting with #2 Mercer Thursday at 8:15.
Princeton’s top-seeded girls and boys advanced to semifinals, as well. The Lady Tigers will face rival Mercer tonight at 6:45. The Tiger boys will square off against North Harrison at 6:45 on Thursday.
Winston’s boys saw their run of district titles come to an end Tuesday night when foul troubles became a big factor in a 50-36 loss to North Harrison. The Redbirds finished 20-5 on the season.
District 14 title games will be held at 1:30 (girls) and 3:00 (boys) on Saturday at North Central Missouri College in Trenton.
