Eleven local Boy Scouts, Jarom Perry, Kacyn Wayne, Jonathan Stoor, Lachlan Gibson, Burke Dalton, Reggie Arnold, Zayden Hacking, Gabriel Hacking, Jarom Lichfield of Gallatin, Sam Richardson of Pattonsburg, and Carleton Nash of Cainsville, will be recognized for achieving the highest rank in scouting, that of Eagle Scout, in a special ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Gallatin Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A reception follows the ceremony and the public is invited to attend.
All the scouts are members of Troop 96 and were under the leadership of Scoutmasters Jason Lichfield and Ephraim Smith.

Gabriel Hacking is the son of Ben and Mary Hacking. He began scouting as a cub scout when he was eight years old. To earn his Eagle Scout award, he earned 39 merit badges and two eagle palms. He attended two years of High Uintah Scout Camp in the Uinta Mountains south of Flaming Gorge Dam. He participated in a cave exploring high adventure. He also attended National Youth Leadership Training and was chosen to be on staff the following year. He participated in a 50-mile backpacking trip and earned his 50-miler award. Gabriel was chaplain aid, scribe, NYLT troop guide, and patrol leader. For his Eagle Scout Project, he cleaned, painted, and beautified the back entrance of the Active Ageing Senior Center in Gallatin.

Zayden Hacking is the son of Ben and Mary Hacking of Gallatin. He joined BSA Scouting when he was 12 years old. To earn his Eagle Scout award, he earned 42 merit badges and four eagle palms. He attended two years of High Uintah Scout camp in the Uinta Mountains south of Flaming Gorge Dam. He also attended National Youth Leadership Training. He participated in a 50-mile backpacking trip and earned his 50-miler award. Zayden was chaplain aid, patrol leader, and senior patrol leader. For his Eagle Scout Project, he cleaned a beautified the back entrance and storage area of the Courter Theater for the Gallatin Theater League.

Lachlan Gibson, son of John and Janece Gibson, achieved Eagle Scout on Jan. 25. Upon being awarded the Eagle Scout rank, Lachlan earned 24 merit badges, served his troop as assistant patrol leader and chaplain aide. He participated in a High Adventure cave exploration trip at the Lake of the Ozarks and many outings. For his Eagle Scout Project, he organized the remodel of the concession stand at the Gallatin Park. A new door and deadbolt were put on along with all new locks in the drop-down windows. It was scraped, repainted, and new caulking was put around the base and windows. Lachlan also had troop members dig around the base of the foundation for added drainage, cleaned the inside of the concession stand, and added a new cement step.

Jonathan Stoor, son of David and Lynda Stoor, earned his Eagle Scout on Jan. 25. Jonathan earned 22 merit badges and served as an assistant patrol leader and a scribe. He attended Camp Jay Hawk and Camp Geiger, along with participating in the cave exploration high adventure at the Lake of the Ozarks. For his eagle project, Jonathan and his volunteers cleaned a local cemetery, Ketren Cemetery. Jonathan’s project included mowing the property, raking and bagging the grass, weed whacking, spraying and caulking the tombs, planting bulbs, cutting down trees and small limbs, and cataloging the graves to Billion Graves.

Reginald Dean Arnold, son of Courtney and Tamera Arnold, has been in the scouting program since he was eight years old. He has had a great time learning, growing, and practicing getting along with others. Reggie’s favorite scouting memory was getting sodas with his troop after their 50-miler hike. Reggie has 31 merit badges, Arrow of Light, Deacon Certificate, On My Honor Award, Religious Square Knot, 50 Miler, Cyber Chip (6-8), National Outdoor Achievement Award (Camping), and Totin’ Chip. Leadership positions held were patrol for his Eagle Scout leader, librarian, chaplain aide, and assistant patrol leader. For his project, he painted and moved shelves and organized hundreds of books for the Daviess County Library in Gallatin.

Burke LeRoy Dalton is the son of Jason and Michelle Dalton. He joined the BSA scouting program when he was eight years old, starting as a Cub Scout and working his way all the way up to the rank of Eagle Scout. In achieving his Eagle Scout award, he has earned 24 merit badges, the 50-miler award and participated in two years of scout camps, along with many high adventures. Burke served as patrol leader and senior patrol leader for one year. For his Eagle Project he worked with three organizations from the Village of Jameson to organize, inventory, and carry out a three-day fundraiser at the Jameson picnic selling memorabilia with all proceeds going to the betterment of the Village of Jameson. He was grateful to serve the community.

Kacyn Barry Wayne is the son of Kevin and Angela Wayne. Kacyn has been in scouting since he was eight years old. He has earned 24 merit badges to become an Eagle Scout. He has been a patrol leader, completed the 50-miler, and participated in Mic-O-Say. He has had the experience of a high adventure exploring caves and attended Camp Nash and Camp Gieger. He has loved learning new skills. Kacyn’s Eagle project was the Johnson Cemetery in our county with the permission of Sherri Carder. He organized and helped with mowing, cutting down trees, trimming trees, raking leaves, finding, spraying, fixing and cataloging headstones and making a new sign for the cemetery. A lot of hard work went into his eagle project and he wants to thank everyone that helped, it was very appreciated.

Jarom Denton Perry is the son of Michael and Ruth Perry. He joined the Boy Scouts of America when he was 11 years old and has enjoyed the many opportunities offered through that organization. His goal to become an Eagle Scout, led him to earn 29 merit badges and one eagle palm. He held a couple of leadership positions as a patrol leader and then as an assistant patrol leader. Some of the highlights of his experience were a 50-mile hike through the Ozarks, thus earning the 50-mile award. He also had the chance to bike 50 miles around Bear Lake in Utah. The aviation merit badge was probably his favorite to obtain though. His choice for an Eagle Project was to work through Billion Graves to take pictures of headstones and then transcribe them. This gives people an opportunity to research their ancestors without having to go to several graveyards looking for their deceased.

Carleton Nash is the son of Samuel and Salinda Hamilton of Cainsville, and Carleton Nash of Arizona. He started his journey into boy scouting through cub scouts at age nine and has earned 26 merit badges, an Eagle Palm, and several awards such as the Arrow of Light, On My Honor Medal, Boy Scouts Emergency Preparedness Medal, and the Nova Science Award. He has served in leadership as a chaplain, chaplain’s aid, and patrol leader. For his Eagle project Carleton built a playground for the Cainsville R-1 Preschool.

Jarom Lichfield is the son of Jason and Sherri Lichfield. Jarom began scouting as a Cub Scout at the age of eight. He has earned 40 merit badges, three palms, the 50-miler award, and the LDS religious on my honor award. He has served in several leadership positions including patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, bugler, quartermaster, and senior patrol leader. For his Eagle Scout Project, he organized the restoration of the playground equipment at the Jameson Community Park. He added fresh paint, new swings, and hand bars that were donated.

Sam Richardson, son of Joe and Rebecca Richardson, earned his Eagle Scout award after seven years in scouting at 15 years old. He earned 29 merit badges. Sam participated in many camps, service projects, and high adventure activities. He enjoyed it all. He served as patrol leader and assistant senior patrol leader. Sam continues to serve in the community, takes on challenges, and continues to live the Scout Oath and Law. For his Eagle Project, he organized and cleaned up Water’s Cemetery, took pictures of the headstones, and uploaded them online for public access.
