Robert “Skeeter” Mazur recently accepted the position of 43rd Judicial Circuit Court Marshal and was sworn into office Dec. 30 by Judge Daren Adkins at the Daviess County Courthouse. Mazur will be one of only three circuit court marshals in the state of Missouri. The other two marshals are located in the 19th Judicial Circuit and the 24th Judicial Circuit.
Mazur is now the chief law enforcement officer for the 43rd Circuit. As such, his duties will include managing the safety of the judges, court staff and clients of the court, and the security of court facilities. The 43rd Judicial Circuit includes Daviess, DeKalb, Clinton, Livingston and Caldwell Counties. He will provide planning, organization, staffing, direction, implementation, coordination, reporting and budgeting for the court marshal’s office, under the direction of the presiding judge.
He is stepping into the position which was vacated by Buddy Weller, who retired this year after serving 25 years in the job.
Robert was born in St. Joseph and graduated from Gallatin High School in 2002. He graduated from Missouri Western State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Administration. He then attended Missouri Western Regional Law Enforcement Academy, graduating with multiple certifications including POST.
Robert has been employed as a Daviess County Deputy for over 12 years and also served a year as Deputy Coroner for the county. While working as Daviess County Deputy, Robert obtained his Generalist POST license, which certifies him to teach at law enforcement academies. He is also a certified instructor for racial profiling, active shooter, and livescan bio metric fingerprint instruments.
Prior to attending college, Mazur also worked at Lynch’s Grocery Store and Frost Automotive in Gallatin. While attending college in St. Joseph, Mazur worked for O’Reilly Auto Parts, Pinkerton Burns Securitas Security Company, and Diamond International.
Robert and his wife Tammy reside at Windy Ridge in Daviess County, which is technically a Cameron address. Tammy is a research chemist who works at Hillyard Inc. in St Joseph. They were married in 2010. Mazur’s mother is Bonnye Lowe of Gallatin. His grandparents are Charles and Judy Ishmael of Lawson.
